Developer looking to turn Terrace Hill Golf Course into residential development

Pulte Homes is looking to put a single-family residential development on the Terrace Hill Golf Course in Algonquin. If this happens, the golf course at 4015 W. Algonquin Road would close after being in the village since 1985. Russell Whitaker, lawyer for Pulte Homes, said the golf course has not been sold to them yet, as their purchase of the course is contingent on their plan being passed by the village. However, the property has been under contract with them since last year, so Pulte Homes does have the right to purchase it, he said. What’s being proposed on Terrace Hill is a new single-family residential development with 267 units, as well as a commercially zoned lot in the northwest corner of the property near the intersection of Frank and Algonquin roads. Within the whole residential community would be three smaller, residential communities. Pulte Homes still is talking to people in the market about possibilities for the commercial area. “It could be anything from a gas station to a day care to a coffee shop; we don’t know right now,” Whitaker said. Pulte’s goal is to begin development work this fall, and open up sales of the residences next year.
