Thunderstorm drops golf ball-sized hail on Denver area

A severe thunderstorm dropped up to golf ball-sized hail on the Denver metro Sunday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service at Boulder. The storm developed over southeast Denver and Aurora, said meteorologist Frank Cooper, and the weather service received reports of hail ranging in size from 1 inch to 1.5 inches, with golf-ball sized chunks failing about three miles north of Aurora.
