Several Colorado ski areas close due to snowstorm, treacherous roads

Eldora, Loveland, Arapahoe Basin and Echo Mountain ski areas all announced that they will remain closed Thursday due to the upslope storm that has walloped Denver and pounded areas east of the Continental Divide. Eldora reported 30 inches of snow overnight, and there have been snow slides on the access road to the area, according to the Eldora website. “The county plow and grader have not been able to penetrate the snow slides across Shelf Road yet, and there is a day’s worth of work to do to prepare the mountain to open,” according to the website.
