By Phil Kabler State legislators may want to consider creating a special method for appraising mining equipment as an alternative to pursuing a constitutional amendment to exempt business inventory and equipment from personal property taxes, Senate Finance Chairman Mike Hall, R-Putnam, suggested Monday. "I don't see why we wouldn't be able to draft something for a special valuation of mining equipment," Hall told the interim Select Committee on Tax Reform.
