KINGSPORT — Dobyns-Bennett High School’s new Regional Science and Technology Center will open for student use when school starts Aug. 5, school officials maintain. However, as the addition project comes “down to the wire” they said the inside of the structure might not be 100 percent occupied then, with those details to be known by mid-July. Kingsport’s school board heard all that during an update from Superintendent Jeff Moorhouse at a meeting where it also gave the green light to a partial roof replacement at Kennedy Elementary, a contract for fresh produce and a blanket approval to order textbooks in selected subjects.
