With temperatures forecasted to dip below freezing, Council for the Homeless issued a severe weather alert Friday, calling upon warming centers to open if possible. The alert, which is in effect Sunday through Thursday, also prompts emergency shelters to expand capacity if needed. Additional severe weather shelters, such as Living Hope Church and the Washougal Community Center, decide whether they’re going to open. The National Weather Service’s extended forecast shows low temperatures hovering around 30 degrees beginning Sunday. People seeking shelter should call the Housing Hotline at 360-695-9677 or 211.
