By Thomas J. MorganPROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Mayor Angel Taveras Friday agreed to a proposal by City Council President Michael Solomon that a commission be appointed to study public pools and related issues, particularly the shut-down Davey Lopes pool that has caused controversy. Jake Bissaillon, Taveras's chief of staff, reported the mayor's decision via email. Solomon issued his proposal in a letter to Taveras, whose administration declined to reopen the pool this year, citing costs. Councilman Davian Sanchez, Ward 11, who has led a drive to reopen the facility, said recently there are resources to repair the pool.
