II Timothy 4:7-8. No truer words describe the life of Carolyn Sue Parsons Day, 71, who went to be with her LORD on Friday, August 9, 2019 at home with her beloved husband and son at her side.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her cherished parents George and Allie Parsons.

Margie Nell Hayes Gurley Wankel passed away on Friday, August 9th, 2019 surrounded by her family at her home due to complications of a stroke. She was born on September 10th, 1929, in Bristol, Tennessee.
She was preceded in death by husbands, Marvin Mac Gurley, Sr. and Ronald A. Wankel, Sr. Her parents Marion and Belvon Hayes, as well as, sisters, Louise Reynolds, Cleo Blevins, Vivian Hodges, and brother, Norman Hayes.
She is survived by daughter Vickey G. Richmond and husband Toby; and Son, Marvin Mac Gurley, Jr. and wife Kimberlyn.

JONESVILLE, VA - Sherman Lee Williams, age 85, affectionately known to his friends as “Sherm” and to his family as “Pap,” passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, TN.
He was born in the Millers Chapel Community of Jonesville on January 1, 1934, as the 10th and youngest child, to the late Bill and Ollie Williams. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and proudly worked for 41 years in the maintenance department of the Lee County Public School System.

KINGSPORT - Norman Wayne Wilson, Jr., 53, Kingsport, TN departed this life to be home with the Lord on August 7, 2019 at his residence.
Arrangements will be announced by Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.

ROGERSVILLE — The consultant who helped Kingsport City Schools and Hawkins County Schools choose their current directors in 2017 and 2018 respectively will now be asked to do the same for Rogersville City School in 2019.
The 2019-20 academic year will be the ninth and final one for Rebecca Isaacs as superintendent of the independent K-8 Rogersville City School.
Isaacs announced earlier this year that she will be retiring as of June 30, 2020.

NASHVILLE — A Tennessee convict on lawn mowing duty sexually assaulted and strangled a female corrections administrator before escaping prison grounds on a tractor, authorities said.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said Friday it has received 250 tips, but there have been no credible sightings of Curtis Ray Watson since he escaped the West Tennessee State Penitentiary two days ago.
Watson was discovered missing about 11 a.m.

BRISTOL, Va. — The Kingsport Mets rallied late Friday night at DeVault Stadium to earn a stunning 8-6 Appalachian League win over Bristol.
Kingsport (24-26) scored six runs in the top of the eighth inning to displace the Pirates (23-26) for third place in the league’s West Division.
The uprising made a winner of K-Mets right-hander Jender De Jesus, who threw four scoreless innings in relief of starter Cesar Loaiza. Nixon Silva picked up a save by getting the game’s final out under the gun.

JOHNSON CITY — A trip to Allen Fieldhouse awaits the East Tennessee State men’s basketball team. The Bucs visit Kansas on Nov. 19 for an opening-round contest in the Maui Jim Maui Invitational, whose mainland schedule was announced Friday.
Tipoff time for ETSU’s game with the Jayhawks is scheduled for 8 p.m. This will mark the fourth meeting between the teams but the first since Jan. 4, 1996.
“Kansas has the loudest home atmosphere of any place I have ever coached,” said Bucs coach Steve Forbes.

Sullivan East’s Dylan White checks the boxes needed for a high school quarterback. The senior enters his third year behind center and hopes to get the Patriots moving toward a winning season.
Last year’s 1-9 finish was tough to take, White said during Friday’s media day.
“We were 4-6 my sophomore year, and we looked at it as an OK season,” he said. “But there was no drive to come out and make a bond to go 6-4 or 7-3 the next year.
