Rainville said that officials from the county legal department would try to reach an amicable agreement with the Gulf Coast Rod, Reel and Gun Club Inc., which owns the Rollover Pass property. "The Sheriff's department is scheduled to arrive on Wednesday to seize their property," the website Resist Control quoted a spokesman for the owners of the Rollover Pass property as saying. The General Land Office received permission to close Rollover Pass in 2009 because it was accelerating erosion on the Peninsula and dumping sand into the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway that had to constantly be removed at great expense. The county agreed to exercise its eminent domain right to take Rollover Pass in exchange for the Land Office's promise to build the fishing pier.
