Coco Crisp’s new batting stance the past month or so is the result of the neck problems he has had this season — he no longer can lean his head back as he used to while awaiting pitches, so he’s a little straighter and he has brought down his hands a bit. “He’s learned to deal with it,” manager Bob Melvin said. Crisp’s numbers have dipped since his injury; he entered Monday batting .231 (15-for-65) in the 16 games after missing five games with the neck problem — but hitting coach Chili Davis said that he likes what Crisp has been doing lately and believes his new swing is about to click.
