Most things that could go wrong have indeed played out unfavorably for Colorado State in 2019. The Rams possess a 2-5 (1-2) record under Mike Bobo in the head coach’s fifth season as the inability to avoid turnovers and close games loom amid Mountain West play. However, for the first instance this year, Bobo’s squad turns the page on a prior contest knowing the circumstance could be worse. Before their first of two bye weeks in one month, the Rams picked up an obligatory victory at New Mexico –– snapping a four-game skid and allowing CSU to enter its off period holding a precious sliver of momentum. Colorado State head football coach Mike Bobo said Tuesday that the bye week gives the Rams a chance to go back to some basics. If the Rams play their cards right, the current bye could prove beneficial in several regards –– such as getting crucial players back from injury, refocusing underclassmen and enabling Nebraska transfer quarterback Patrick O’Brien to come into his own by the time CSU faces 2-3 Fresno State. “We talked about on Monday that we wanted to focus on this bye week were, one, was fundamentally getting better,” Bobo said Tuesday after practice.
