The National Symphony Orchestra of Cuba launched a U.S. tour Tuesday night at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts. The concert, presented by the Harriman-Jewell Series, marked the orchestra's first U.S. appearance since its founding in 1959. Guest conductor Guido Lopez-Gavilan led the orchestra in a rousing performance of George Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue" that featured piano soloist Ignacio "Nachito" Herrera, who's now based in Minneapolis.
