MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Dobyns-Bennett sophomore Lainey Hill battled nerves initially but gained her composure in a first-set tiebreaker for a 7-6 (7-1), 6-0 first round win over East Hamilton’s Sydney Dattilo Thursday morning at the TSSAA Class AAA state girls singles tournament. Hill, however, would fall in the semifinals for a second straight year later in the afternoon, 6-3, 6-1 to Sneha Sinha of Collierville Anxious from the outset, Hill became increasingly uneasy when the entire Dobyns-Bennett baseball contingent came for support in the first match. Hill, however, said their boisterous support helped overcome several unforced errors in the first set against Dattilo “It made me nervous at first when I saw them come in,” said Hill.
