Daniel Berrigan, Priest, Anti-war Protest Leader, Dies At 94

The Rev. Daniel J. Berrigan, a writer, teacher and longtime opponent of U.S. military involvement abroad, died April 30 at a Jesuit residence at Fordham University in the Bronx, New York. He was 94. Berrigan’s repeated acts of civil disobedience put him at odds with his government and the Roman Catholic Church but made him a major figure among advocates for peace and social justice. The cause was a cardiovascular ailment, said the Rev.
