At least that’s the opinion of McCaffrey’s head coach, David Shaw, who predicted 49ers running back Carlos Hyde would flourish in Chip Kelly’s offense. “I think Hyde is a perfect fit for Chip’s offense,” Shaw said today at the Bay Area college football media day at Levi’s Stadium. [...] that he’s healthy, and in an offense that majors in putting the ball in the running back’s hands in a variety of ways … [...] Shaw, who oversees a run-heavy attack, has adopted some of Kelly’s wrinkles. In Kelly’s first two seasons with the Eagles, LeSean McCoy led the NFL in rushing attempts (626) and ranked second in yards (2,926). Listed at 235 pounds, Hyde is a big body who reminds Shaw of Carolina’s Jonathan Stewart (240 pounds), who rushed for 1,722 yards in 2007 in Kelly’s first season as Oregon’s offensive coordinator.
