As the Democratic National Convention recounted President Obama's victories in office Wednesday night, one obstacle overcome was a little surprising: Rahm Emanuel. In the video introduction to the president's address, Rahm — formerly Obama's chief of staff and now mayor of Chicago — was shown trying to get in the way of Obama's signature health care bill becoming law.
Unless you're one of his three children, Tim Kaine is not your dad — but he might as well be.
Hillary Clinton's mild-mannered running mate is the calm in the storm that is the 2016 election. During his speech at the Democratic National Convention, he was even-tempered, spoke with joy when talking about his family, and even when he got riled up and did an impression of Donald Trump, it made the Republican presidential nominee seem almost (key word: almost) chill.
After formally accepting the Democratic Party's vice presidential nomination at the Democratic National Convention on Wednesday night, Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.) made the case for why he trusts Hillary Clinton. "First, she's consistent," Kaine said, addressing the convention for the first. "She battled to put kids and families first since she was a teenager."
Kaine doubled down on that point, saying he would trust Clinton with the life of his son, who was just deployed overseas as a Marine.
By K. S. McNutt Staff Writer email@example.comSHAWNEE — The new president of St. Gregory's University has taken steps to decrease debt and increase enrollment in his first two months on the job.
"Like many small colleges we've had financial challenges, some severe challenges recently," Michael Scaperlanda said Tuesday.
"The organization is running much more efficiently," said Scaperlanda, who stepped into the president's job May 16 and streamlined the top administrative positions at a savings of $350,000 annually.
His role includes being an external advocate for the university, talking to potential donors and potential students.
"We haven't done a good job in the past of getting the word out," he said.
