By William CrumThe Airport Trust has awarded a $61.9 million contract to Timberlake Construction Co. to build the new east concourse at Will Rogers World Airport.The project includes the concourse, four new gates, an observation deck, and a lobby for family and friends to meet arriving passengers.Delta Air Lines will occupy the new concourse, waiting areas and gates.Families will have views from the observation deck to the concourse below and of airfield operations through large windows letting in lots of natural light.The two existing security checkpoints will be consolidated into one, in a high-ceiling space designed to accommodate technological and security advances.Construction is expected to take two years and be complete in the first quarter of 2021.The new concourse is the biggest phase of an $89.8 million terminal expansion project.The project is financed with 30-year fixed-rate bonds, to be retired with airport revenues and passenger facility fees.The Airport Trust sold $93,550,000 in bonds on Nov.
