Derek Poulin who was convicted of killing his grandmother by beating her, stabbing her and setting her body afire was sentenced to life Wednesday afternoon. Poulin faced a minimum of up to 40 years in prison for murder and arson. Poulin’s grandmother, 61-year-old Patricia Noel, was beaten with a golf club and stabbed about 70 times in 2012 at the home they shared in Old Orchard Beach. Prosecutors said Poulin killed his grandmother because she asked him to move out.
