The UC Berkeley student who was detained Dec. 30 by Immigration and Customs Enforcement returned to the Bay Area on Sunday night. About a dozen supporters greeted Luis Mora, a junior political science student, after he returned to Oakland International Airport. Photos tweeted by his attorney, Prerna Lal of the East Bay Community Law Center, showed supporters holding signs that read, #FreedLuis” and “Welcome Back Luis.” An immigration judge on Wednesday ordered Mora’s release from custody on the minimum possible bond, $1,500, while his case is pending so Mora can continue pursuing a political science degree.
