Dignity Health has agreed to pay $37 million to settle claims that it overbilled Medicare and a military healthcare program for five years. The allegations in a whistleblower lawsuit relate to 12 hospitals in the San Francisco-based health system, including Mercy General in Sacramento and Mercy San Juan in Carmichael. The settlement, which covers claims filed from 2006 through 2010, was signed Wednesday.
