The Beacon Hill Institute, a conservative think tank affiliated with Suffolk University, will stop operating as part of the university by the end of 2016, the group’s executive director said.“I’m going to recruit a board and engage in fundraising so we can establish ourselves as a freestanding institution,” said Beacon Hill Institute Executive Director David Tuerck.Tuerck said he broached the topic of separating from the university after a policy was put in place this year “that had the effect of restricting fundraising.”
