Getting from Jonesboro, Ark., to Colorado Springs to attend a coin-collecting seminar this week was like being on AC/DC's "Highway to Hell" for a wheelchair-bound double amputee.It seemed that everything that could go wrong on the trip did, said 34-year-old David Smock, who had both legs removed in 2011 due to complications from spina bifida, a spinal birth defect."It was crazy," he said of his trek.But also not surprising."We do have some responsibility, but discrimination is rampant against disabled people, and it's a group that's not talked about," he said.Smock's 28-hour Greyhound bus trip turned into a grueling 48-hour ordeal, during which he was twice mistaken for being homeless.Read more on Colorado Springs Gazette
