Disneyland will kick off its 60th anniversary with a 24-hour Diamond Celebration that will unveil a glittering “Paint the Night” parade, a flashy new “Disneyland Forever” fireworks show, and the new “World of Color” multimedia spectacle at sister park California Adventure. After the dancing and revelry die down, visitors have all summer to enjoy the enhanced sparkle at Sleeping Beauty’s Castle, in Downtown Disney, and at Carthay Circle Theatre in California Adventure, while glittery decor and diamond-themed presentations can be found throughout both parks. Half Moon Bay and neighboring San Mateo coast towns are adopting the Passeggiata — an Italian cousin of the promenade and the humble evening constitutional — and are adding incentives. During the monthly Friday-night stroll, local merchants will offer food, wine, live music, discounts and the occasional cooking demonstration, fashion show or other activity. The Mountain Play, a cherished century-old tradition, will present the original Broadway version of the musical “Peter Pan” in its natural amphitheater 7 miles up the flank of Mount Tamalpais in Marin County.
