Does Marcus Semien deserve All-Star consideration? [...] after watching Marcus Semien’s recent power surge, A’s manager Bob Melvin figures the shortstop deserves a place in the discussion. “If I’m given the chance, I would,” Melvin said when asked whether he would lobby for Semien to participate in the All-Star Game in San Diego. Semien’s contributions belie his .248 batting average. Though he has committed three errors in his past 12 games, Semien made only five in his first 66. The Cal alum matched his career high Monday with four RBIs on an RBI double and a three-run home run. Semien, who hit seventh in the order Tuesday against the Giants, leads the majors with nine homers while batting ninth. A week before All-Star teams are announced, he isn’t one of the top five vote getters among AL shortstops. Left fielder Khris Davis, catcher Stephen Vogt, third baseman Danny Valencia and even reliever Ryan Dull are more likely to represent the A’s in San Diego. Left-hander Rich Hill, who went 8-3 with a 2.25 ERA before heading to the disabled list with a groin injury, will start Saturday against Pittsburgh. During a rehab start Monday with Class A Stockton, Hill allowed one earned run in three innings. Infielder Ryon Healy was announced as the A’s lone representative in the Futures Game, a showcase of top minor-league prospects to be played July 10 at Petco Park. Healy, 24, is hitting .340 with five home runs and 25 RBIs in 40 games since being promoted to Triple-A Nashville. Connor Letourneau is a San Francisco Chronicle staff writer. Before Monday night’s 8-3 rout of the Giants, the A’s lost five of six games to their Bay Area rivals last year.
