Drivers Who Are Late Renewing Registration May Get A Break

(AP) — Some drivers who are late renewing their license plate could have the $10 late fee waived under legislation heading toward Gov. Rick Snyder for his signature. The legislation would require the secretary of state to waive a late fee if the motorist presents proof of storage insurance for the vehicle for the time when the vehicle was not registered and he or she makes an in-person request at a secretary of state branch office.
