When it comes to free agency, the Mavericks usually are like the people who sleep in on Black Friday. Most years, they end up scouring the picked-over discount table when the big sale is almost over. That doesn't mean they haven't made out with some good value. Harrison Barnes and Wesley Matthews have been solid contributors. It's just that the Mavericks haven't been able to hit on the hot item that everybody wants, one that would help push their rebuilding process ahead exponentially. This year, owner Mark Cuban has pledged to spend the money that the Mavericks figure to have -- likely around $15 million, depending on who on their roster they elect to keep around. So who's out there? The crop is exquisite if, as most people expect, people like LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Paul George opt out of their contracts. There are lots of players who will be on the market July 1.So with that knowledge, and knowing that the Mavericks still have to pour all their efforts into the June 21 draft first, we'll take an early look at free agency and the players at each position.Bear in mind that these are the players at each position we expect to fit in best with the Mavericks, not necessarily the best available, although we will touch on them.We start with point guards, which isn't much of a "need" position when you have Dennis Smith Jr.
