Ecuador Heralds Digital Currency Plans

QUITO, Ecuador (AP) — Ecuador is planning to create the world's first government-issued digital currency, which some analysts believe could be a first step toward abandoning the country's existing currency, the U.S. dollar, which the government cannot control. The virtual currency, which Central Bank officials say they expect will start circulating in December, does not yet have a name and officials would not disclose technical details, though they said it would not be like Bitcoin.Read more on NewsOK.com

The U. S. suspended some new avocado shipments from Mexico after an incident that reportedly threatened the safety of American agricultural inspectors. The U. S. Department of Agriculture notified the Avocado Exporting Producers and Packers of Mexico (APEAM) of the decision to halt new exports out of Michoacan late on June 14, according to a notice from the trade group seen by Bloomberg News.
