After a two-hour workshop discussing priorities for Effingham’s central recreation complex, CHA Sports is creating several layouts for commissioners to consider. The consultants will have the options ready soon, with a goal of choosing a layout, creating plans and letting bids so that ground can be broken in the fall. About 20 people attended the recent workshop, mostly commissioners and members of the recreation board. They agreed that the complex should primarily be designed to serve the needs of those who play on recreation department teams, with hosting the occasional tournament as a secondary purpose. Commissioners recently visited nearby complexes to get ideas.
