WYTHEVILLE — Eight Southwest Virginia natives have reported to their first duty posts to begin their careers as a Virginia State Police trooper, including one each from Wise and Lee Counties.The eight are among 50 new troopers who recently graduated from the VSP Academy in Richmond. The final phase of training requires each new trooper to spend a minimum of six weeks with a field training officer learning new patrol area and day-to-day duties.Graduates includes Joshua S.
