Escalating Crime Leaves Nearby Shops On Edge

STOCKTON — A makeshift memorial marked by candles, flowers and a balloon sat outside a northeast Stockton sandwich shop that remained closed Wednesday, a day after an employee was shot to death in a robbery gone wrong.The San Joaquin County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 43-year-old Jerry Lucero. Authorities said Lucero was shot at 9:12 p.m.
