There's no way to sugarcoat it: Expedia's decision to move its headquarters to Seattle is devastating to downtown Bellevue. It's bad for other businesses that depend on the spending power of the online travel company's 3,000 well-paid employees. It's bad for the city's tax base and its ego. And it's bad for the city's commercial office market. Expedia, the second largest user of office space downtown after Microsoft, occupies just over 500,000 square feet of space.
