Fair Board Gives Elephant Rides Two More Years

On a vote of 6 to 3, the Kern County Fair Board of Directors decided Monday to invite elephant rides back to the fair for two years, with the caveat that the attraction will be discontinued at the conclusion of the contract. An amendment that addresses public safety concerns was approved as well. After hearing concerns from both supporters and opponents of Have Trunk Will Travel (HTWT) and its elephant rides, the directors discussed their options moving forward.
