A few hundred yards separated one historic Napa Valley winery that survived the horrific firestorm from the one next door, which burned down to a rubble pile of broken wine bottles and charred walls. Jim Regusci, the third-generation owner of Regusci Vineyards, was covered with soot, dirt and ash on Monday morning as he surveyed his vineyard, which survived largely because of the frantic morning he spent cutting a fire line around his property with the vineyard’s small bulldozer.
