Firstmerit High Risk Team Leader Works Way Up, Devotes Herself To Nonprofits

Kimberly J. Young is a transplant, but you’d never know it based on all her community connections.At the relatively young age of 34, Young is plugged in, volunteering with a number of nonprofits and working as a high risk team leader for FirstMerit Corp., the Akron-headquartered banking company. Her job involves working with customers deemed to be high risk to assure compliance with state and federal regulations.She’s been with FirstMerit since 2000, starting out in the call center, answering calls from customers in the evening, after attending classes at the University of Akron.Young moved to Akron to the university after graduation from South High School in Cleveland in 1998.She graduated from UA in 2004 with a degree in political science and criminal justice after having a daughter in 2003.
