An early estimate puts insured losses from Hurricane Irma in Florida at nearly $2 billion. The estimate is based on claims data filed by insurers with the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation as of 4 p.m. on Sept. 17. It’s likely to increase as more claims data is filed. A separate report from Fitch Ratings issued Monday afternoon is significantly higher.
