Maybe someone should send FTD a bouquet of flowers to celebrate its recent expansion. Then again, the company probably has enough flowers now that it’s agreed to buy Provide Commerce, the company behind ProFlowers. The proposed $430 million deal includes Provide Commerce’s e-commerce brands ProFlowers, Shari’s Berries and Personal Creations, the Wall Street Journal reports. The combined company is expected to bring in an annual revenue of more than $1 billion, a stream that officials say will open the door for additional consumer offerings. Officials with Illinois-based FTD say in a news release that the proposed merger allows the company to offer consumers “innovative and expansive” floral and gift products and “an enhanced shopping experience.” No word on whether or not increased flower power of the company means arrangements will actually show up on customers’ doorsteps looking like they do in the company’s ads.
