A former Copley Township resident is accused of stealing more than $1.5 million from health-care plans he administered. In a seven-count federal indictment filed Thursday, U.S. Attorney Steven M. Dettelbach charges that Robert Hartenstein, 61, used money that should have gone to the plans he administered to pay for personal bonuses, luxury car leases and a country club membership.“This defendant was entrusted with millions of dollars to pay for hospital stays and medical tests, but instead betrayed that trust and used his clients’ money for fancy cars, lavish entertainment and his own business operations,” Dettelbach said in a statement.Prosecutors say Hartenstein started Professional Benefits Association (PBA) in 1994 as a company that acted as a third-party administrator of health-care plan benefits.
