Former NAACP president Ophelia Averitte was robbed and assaulted in her beauty shop on Frederick Boulevard.Police said a teenager went into Simone’s Beauty Shop shortly before noon Thursday and knocked Averitte down then grabbed two black bags.Police say one of the bags contained $1,000.Averitte was not injured.Police said the teen fled south on Frederick Boulevard.The suspect is described as a black male, 18 or 19 years old, around 6 feet tall.
