A fundraiser was held Sunday at Tybee Island’s North Beach Bar and Grill for the first public skatepark in Savannah. The nonprofit group Chatham County Skate Park Supporters organized the fundraiser as an attempt to make a dent in the more than $300,000 they are trying to raise before Spring 2016. The group broke ground near Lake Mayer in March, and the process took more out of their budget than they thought it would. “We raised about $160,000,” said Ben Maher, CEO of the nonprofit group.
