Show creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss recently told Deadline that they need approximately 13 episodes to end the series. While HBO renewed Game of Thrones through Season 8 earlier this year, the network told TVGuide.com Tuesday that it has not confirmed whether Season 8 will be the final season or how many episodes have been ordered. The explosive Season 6 finale ended with Cersei (Lena Headey) taking the Iron Throne, Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) sailing her army to Westeros and Jon Snow (Kit Harington) being crowned King of the North, setting up the major leaders for one last final show down.
