RADFORD — Gate City senior Sydney Reed and junior Kaley Jenkins had different perspectives about the possibility of a trip to the VHSL Class 2 team tennis championship. It didn’t matter to the duo in the end, however. The doubles partners teamed up to do what they’ve been doing for the past two seasons. Reed and Jenkins moved rapidly through their doubles match, dispatching Radford’s Gracie Blackwell and Lily Weschke 6-1, 6-0 to seal the Lady Blue Devils’ 5-2 win over Radford on Monday in the state semifinals at Radford University. The win, coupled with singles victories by Amelia Jennings, Reed, Madison Parks and Lacy Dishner, gave Gate City (19-1) its 15th trip to the state championship. On Saturday at 10 a.m.
