By From staff reports "Caroline" and "Charles" first came to Union Mission in the late 1990s. Caroline had been diagnosed with a degenerative disease, but she continued to work until the symptoms became too much to handle. Then Charles was diagnosed with a completely different degenerative disease. After a long fight, he also was awarded disability benefits - but that cut into his wife's benefits. They have two children.
