George Brophy, a big-hearted, hugely generous man whose gregariousness and enjoyment of other people helped him excel as a bartender, bar owner and car salesman, died with friends and family at his side at Albany Medical Center Hospital on Thursday, six days after suffering a stroke. While in Miami in the mid-1980s, where for a period Brophy managed the disco at the Seagull Hotel, he met vacationing Albanians and decided to give New York's capital city a try.
