Geronimo post office slated for 'temporary' closure Express-News Copyright 2013 Express-News. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed. Published 12:11 pm, Tuesday, April 16, 2013 U.S. Postal Service patrons in Geronimo will have to check their boxes and pick up packages in Seguin starting April 27 due to an expiring lease that will shutter their current facility, at least temporarily. The Postal Service offered a 5 percent rent hike on a new lease that was to begin there in May, but, he said, “We were unable to reach an agreement so last week notices went out to the customers about a temporary closure.” Last year weekday hours at the Geronimo post office were cut in half to reduce labor costs, Bolen said, but the facility hasn't been among rural offices slated for closure to address a financial crisis facing the Postal Service. The agency is exploring its options, which include establishing a presence in a local store, a set-up known as a village post office, Bolen said.
