LOS ANGELES - The Giants are having internal discussions on how to extend the protective netting behind the plate at AT&T Park and hope to announce something next week, team president Larry Baer said Friday night. "It's our intention to extend it," Baer said by phone. The Seattle Mariners, San Diego Padres and Cincinnati Reds all said they would extend their nets almost immediately after New York's Todd Frazier lined a 104-mph foul ball into the lower deck at Yankee Stadium on Wednesday that seriously injured a 4-year-old girl. Safety nets over the decades typically were installed to protect fans immediately behind home plate.
