Vermont is poised to pass a groundbreaking measure forcing major polluting companies to help pay for damages caused by the climate crisis, which is being watched around the country. Via The Guardian:
Modeled after the Environmental Protection Agency’s Superfund program, which forces companies to pay for toxic waste cleanup, the climate superfund bill would charge major fossil fuel companies doing business within the state billions of dollars for their past emissions.
The measure would make Vermont the first US state to hold fossil fuel companies liable for their planet-heating pollution.
“If you contributed to a mess, you should play a role in cleaning it up,” Elena Mihaly, vice-president of the Conservation Law Foundation’s Vermont chapter, which is campaigning for the bill, said in an interview.
Spunky Vermont is first state to pass a bill requiring oil companies to pay for climate damage.
As a mother, I'd secretly hoped that Barron Trump would tactfully stay clear of his father's insanity, but nah. He's going to be a delegate at the Republican National Convention. I'm surprised that Trump, who is famously touchy about his height and lies about it all the time, would want Barron towering over him on the teevee!
Biden is talking specifically about a ground invasion, not the bombing Israel is doing in Rafah right now. Via CNN.com:
President Joe Biden said for the first time Wednesday he would halt some shipments of American weapons to Israel – which he acknowledged have been used to kill civilians in Gaza – if Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu orders a major invasion of the city of Rafah.
“Civilians have been killed in Gaza as a consequence of those bombs and other ways in which they go after population centers,” Biden told CNN’s Erin Burnett in an exclusive interview on “Erin Burnett OutFront,” referring to 2,000-pound bombs that Biden paused shipments of last week.
“I made it clear that if they go into Rafah – they haven’t gone in Rafah yet – if they go into Rafah, I’m not supplying the weapons that have been used historically to deal with Rafah, to deal with the cities – that deal with that problem,” Biden said.
So where exactly are the lines?
Biden said while the US would continue to provide defensive weapons to Israel, including for its Iron Dome air defense system, other shipments would end should a major ground invasion of Rafah begin.read more
Here's more proof that watching Fox makes you dumber than a box of rocks. It's nothing but faux outrage 24/7 and constantly pretending that Democrats are somehow doing what we all know Republicans do every election cycle, which is to cheat.

Greene’s humiliation came just as Kristi Noem finally realized nobody admires her for killing her dog, Cricket, and slinked away. If only Marge would realize people are also sick of her obsessive need for attention and do the same.
From The New York Times report on Greene’s effort to oust Speaker Mike Johnson:
