Grand Street House In Newburgh Damaged By Early Morning Fire

CITY OF NEWBURGH – A three-alarm fire early Wednesday morning did major damage to a house at 420 Grand St.Acting city fire Chief Terry Ahlers said the three-story wood-frame house had no working smoke detectors, which gave the fire a head start before the first firefighters arrived.The first alarm was reported at 2:20 a.m., and when firefighters arrived a few minutes later they found fire on the second and third floors.Two people at home at the time got [...]
