By Henry Dolive For The OklahomanYUKON — A group that once gathered monthly but now meets only twice a year, the Frisco Cemetery Ladies Association has one mission: making sure the cemetery northwest of Yukon, which predates Oklahoma statehood by 17 years, remains peaceful and beautiful. The women's group is marking its centennial, and remains dedicated to preserving the nearly seven-acre cemetery, including a section donated within the past year. Ladies association members, many of whom are related, met in December, then gathered this month to plan a cleanup day and arrange the dinner at the cemetery that for many years has been held on the Sunday before Memorial Day. The cleanup day Wednesday was followed by the annual business meeting of the Frisco Cemetery Association, which operates the cemetery. “I've been going to the cemetery the Sunday before Memorial Day as long as I can remember," said Mary Culver, 75, treasurer of the women's association.Read more on NewsOK.com
