Trick-or-treating came early this afternoon at Stout Field on the city's West side. About 150 Indiana National Guard soldiers returned home to their families and friends, some of whom came dressed in costumes. The Shelbyville-based soldiers from the 2-238th General Aviation Support Battalion have been in Iraq and Kuwait since last fall. Several costume-clad children received candy as they awaited the soldiers' return, but most people said the real treat would come later when they would get to spend time with their loved ones. "I just want to hold him," Beverly Head, Noblesville, said of her son Specialist Christopher Head, 40, Mooresville. And Christopher Head's family had a special treat waiting for him: his one-month-old niece who he will meet for the first time. Sam Handy, 9, donned the ultimate Halloween tribute: a smaller version of his father's uniform.
