The Early Learning Coalition of Duval created a voluntary quality improvement and rating system called Guiding Stars 10 years ago to help parents locate quality child care and preschool centers and to encourage providers to train themselves to better prepare youngsters for kindergarten. The coalition recently celebrated its anniversary by pointing to some of its successes. About 154 Duval County child-care and preschool centers merited multiple stars for quality, coalition leaders said, and another 60 are being coached along the way. read more
